The Popinjays – Too Jung

Another saccharine sweet single about teenage angst and love from The Popinjays.  Too Jung has the great singalong chorus, “Too young, stupid and shy.”  The lead track and Sun were both produced by Ian Broudie from the Lighting Seeds

Spelling is not their strong point.  Not just the misspelt title song, there is another track  called Shegrewappy.  I thought that this was some Scottish cuisine from the Highlands, not , ‘She grew happy.’

The Popinjays – Don’t Go Back

The debut from the Popinjays featuring Wendy Robinson, Polly Hancock a girl called Emma on bass and a drum machine.  It was released on Big Cat records in August 1988 and secured them a deal with One Little Indian.

The songs are repeated on both sides of the 12” single.
